THE GOAL:

Barrio Linoska is a local catering company, that this summer decided to launch a new food truck. What separates this food from the competition in my town are the high-quality food they serve, made by experienced chefs, the quality of products they use, the environmental thinking, and what they call the daily creative menu.

The daily creative menu was a fluid menu that was only to read on location and changed every day based on the local produce they had access to. They collaborate with three of the biggest local supermarkets to get a hold of food that would eventually be thrown out for various reasons. So to save that food and help reduce food waste they made a daily menu with some highly creative dishes.

They also used minimal food containers, and the ones they used were made with biodegradable materials. Our goal was to in a very short timeframe, create a visual identity that would stand out in the local climate, and would communicate the different core concepts of the food truck.

THE CHALLENGE:

This project had quite a lot of different challenges, they had a spot on a parking lot rented out with all the permits ready for 2.5 months during the summer, but some trouble with the food truck and not being sure if they would be able to get it ready in time forced them to wait with developing any material for this.

So when the truck eventually was ready they contacted me and we had only about a week and a half to get everything ready for launch, and we were on a very limited budget. I was aware of this but took on this challenge, because really love the concept of this and wanted to help out, and the challenge in itself was very intriguing.

So we had to develop somewhat of a visual identity, help separate from the competition, and promote the food truck all on a small budget and only 1.5 weeks to do so, it was a struggle but in the end, we manage to do it and they had a very successful summer in the truck that also helped the core catering business to get exposure and allowed them to keep on working on other fun creative food endeavors.

THE CONCLUSION:

We manage to finish all the planned designs before the short 1.5-week deadline was over and they had a successful summer with the food truck. The food truck and the work we did also gave the brand more awareness within the local community, so after the summer the catering and other work they do saw a positive change as well.

We started with figuring out the visual identity, the client had some great thoughts and ideas to start working from, they wanted a retro vibe, and not something too different from the trends seen with other food trucks in Sweden at the time.

I started by developing a color palette the colors I choose were all based on nature/natural things and had an overall warm tone. I wanted the brands' colors to reflect the organic, creative, warm, and friendly feeling and also play on the retro look and vibe we were looking for.

I decided to use flowing organic shapes that would create some creative and fun compositions that can be easily used across different touchpoints for brand consistency, and to help further the feeling and highlight the keywords of the brand.
