THE CONCLUSION:

All three ordered designs were created and finished well within the timeframe, and together during the process we manage to create something that everyone were very pleased with. With the brand being based and heavily influenced by the Hawaiian Islands, and direction for the company to heavly base these designs of the ocean, the beach, the tropical climate.

I did research to better understand the target audience and competition, which helped me get started on ideation and developing a main concept for this three piece collection, I develop a bullet list of keywords to work off which you can take a look at here on the right.

So I started with developing a color palette, with color being one of the most important elements to provoke emotions and feelings in a viewer I had a basic idea of what too use from the get go based on the direction from the company. But I really took my time and thought to nail down the best fitting variation of hues for this project. So I really wanted something, vibrant, energetic, and strong contrasted with something calm, friendly and fresh.

THE GOAL:

Ohalola is a U.S based clothing brand that reached out about creating a few designs for their up and coming summer 2021 collection. Their old designs were made early in their first year on a very limited budget and did not represent the brand correctly.

So for this time around they wanted to have a strong concept that would represent their laid-back, feel-good brand. So the concept they came up with was "every day is a vacation", "vacation everyday".

So our goals were to create unique designs that would attract the correct target audience, establish their brand identity, and help further their brands voice.

THE CHALLENGE:

The biggest challenges for me with this project were to deliver designs which goals are to set a brand back on the map after what they concieve as a failed first launch. Which for me as a designer is a high pressure situation, that are equally challenging as it is exciting.

They wanted designs that "felt" and fit in with some of the compeeting brands, but that were unique to Ohalola. Which is a common idea of course but always a though direction to balance. So research, sketching, and ideation were key in the early stages of this project to really find the footing and a foundation to work from.
