The Oslo Urban & Garden Festival is a new take on normal garden shows and festivals. They distance themselves from the commercial nature that usually is found everywhere around these types of events with major companies selling products everywhere you look.
This festival aims to instead connect the local community and support the local shops. They have workshops to learn sustainable gardening, how to grow inside apartments, and much more. They have events and a playground for the children, music, food trucks, and the only companies invited to sell their products are locally owned and operated.
The goal is to separate the festival from the competition and to target a different audience. This festival is focused on the local inner-city community and a younger audience.
One of the biggest challenges for this was to do all the necessary research about the competitors and how the different garden festivals in Norway operate, and then formulate a concept that would be conceptually strong, differentiate the festival, target the right audience, and communicate the right ideas, values, and voice of the festival.
